POSITION OVERVIEW

This position is a working supervisor position.  Supervises and coordinates the operations and administration of a millwork production shop.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supervises and coaches shop personnel; monitors employee performance, attendance and time records.
  • Works the assembly line.
  • Assigns personnel for picking proper components for that day's production.
  • Responsible for unlocking and locking the shop on a daily basis.
  • Obtains work order tickets for work to be performed, reviews the tickets and sorts them based on deliver schedule requirements, and assigns the work to shop personnel.
  • Maintains quality assurance by inspecting assembly line, finished goods for quality workmanship, and the repair or disassembly of damaged or defective goods.
  • Trains production line teams on safe usage of tools.
  • Consults with sales staff regarding special millwork items.
  • Prepares Daily Shop Production Report.
  • Models and enforces all safety rules and operates equipment in a safety-conscious manner.
  • Works along side other production employees.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES ' Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the assigned unit.  Also indirectly supervises non-supervisory employees.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work; addresses complaints and resolves problems along with supervision.

TOOLS USED 'Include but are not limited to: chop saw, table saw, rip saw, hand saw; router, nail gun, screw gun, door machine, various pneumatic tools, and drills

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurements, volume, and distance.
  • Might require forklift certification, depending upon branch requirements.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to understand branch and industry standards in identification, measurement, repairs, replacements, and modification of products.
