POSITION OVERVIEW

Duties include physically loading and securing doors on trucks for shipment. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against invoices, orders, or other records.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment trucks and lays out position of orders to be shipped.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repair.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence; and effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using weight measurements, volume and distance.
  • Must be forklift certified.  
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
