The role requires the ability to develop, implement, control and adjust a global sourcing strategy to successfully implement the company's growth initiative. The position reports directly to the General Counsel, Senior Vice President Supply Chain of the company.


  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and detailed global sourcing strategy based on business forecast, sales needs, and historical usage.
  • Implement process and procedures to prequalify potential suppliers.
  • Work with Directs sales team to meet sales needs and growth.
  • Work with Sales and Operations to evaluate and review Company requirements and needs
  • Establish weekly ordering cycle, including process and procedure for receiving RFQs and establishing capacity commitments with key suppliers.
  • Strategically identify new suppliers.
  • Ensure competitive bid process is conducted fairly and sourcing decisions are approved and documented with clear explanations of decision rationale
  • Negotiate supplier agreements to meet quality and service levels.
  • Interpret, forecast, and report on market trends (wire rod pricing, currency rates, etc.) to ensure materials and services are purchased at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production.
  • Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the sourcing initiative by analyzing historical data and improving policies and processes.
  • Demonstrate ongoing improvements in cost and quality of the products and services procured.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure the terms of service levels agreements are enforced. Implement and apply performance review and scorecard for all suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable trade and customs regulations.
  • Perform routine supplier visits and, on occasion, take trips at short notice to troubleshoot issues.
  • Handle other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the management team to identify, manage, and oversee supplier relationships over multiple product lines


  • Minimum 10 years of global procurement and materials sourcing in an industrial setting.
  • BA/BS Degree from an accredited College or University, Degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Business Administration, or Materials Engineering is preferred.
  • A track record of managing complex international sourcing projects.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong business acumen and ability to analyze how trends that will impact the company's business required.
  • Ability to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedules
  • Strong leadership presence, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at any level and across cultures.
  • Strong analytical, economic research, data interpretation and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organized and efficient.  Capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
  • ERP experience is preferred.
  • Requires 35-40% domestic and international travel.
